The summer for The Destiny Project was filled with camps, tournaments, leadership training and souls coming to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
From 2002-2010 tours, Clearwater, FL was one of our main stops on the tour. Global Family Fellowship was the church that we worked with in that area. For 8 straight summers we came along side Global Family Fellowship and touched the lives of hundreds of young people and their families. It had been 5 years since we had done a camp with Global. We were extremely excited to be doing a Basketball Clinic along with Leadership Training. It was awesome to have some of the kids who came to the camps in the early days show up along with new people. These youth, that gave their live to Christ at our camps, are still living for the Lord. More kids gave their lives to the Lord this year as well. It was an encouraging time.
After a wonderful time in Clearwater we headed up the coast to Burlington, NC. We ministered at Love Fellowship Church pastored by Chris and Nadine Stone. The Stones worked with Coach Rex and Coach Vickie in youth ministry in the early 90s in Greensboro, NC. We were there for about a week. We had an outreach weekend to the community where there was a 3 on 3 tournament and a clothing drive on Saturday. On Sunday it was an outreach day, Faith Force, Similar to the Power team, was a part of the service and many gave their lives to Christ. Monday through Wednesday evenings consisted of intense Leadership Training for the leaders of the church. The leaders were empowered and ready to take their city by storm. During our time there, Coach Rex was able to attend a community meeting that had pastors from the area, the chief of police and the sheriff. They were strategizing how to make changes in the city of Burlington.
In Charlotte, NC we saw another move of God. We conducted a 3 on 3 basketball tournament at a local park. This was not just any park. This park had over 10 full size basketball courts, with one of the courts being covered. We had a great turn out from the community to play basketball and enjoy some food. There were well over 70 people there and people answered the call of Jesus and gave their lives over to him. On Sunday morning, Coach Rex ministered to the youth at University Church, pastored by Pastor Mike Stevens.
We were able to reconnect with former coach, Darryl Moore. We partnered with him and the Boys and Girls Club in Chesapeake Virginia to do a Basketball Clinic and we had over 100 kids in attendance.
